Liver Lovin' Green Juice

What we put on, in and around our body matters. In this day and age we are surrounded by toxins everywhere - in and on our food, in our water, in our air, etc. Because of this, we want to ensure we are supporting our body’s detox process daily. The liver is one of our body’s main detoxifying organs, and by supporting it daily, this can help reduce your symptoms of chronic pain, fatigue, stiffness, insomnia and everything in between.

Here’s the kicker: if you live with an MTHFR genetic mutation (or two), your liver needs extra loving. Approximately 50% of the population lives with at least one of these mutations. If you’re a nerd like me and want to find out about your genetic mutations, I can guide you to the appropriate testing.

To support your liver every day, try to incorporate green juice, liver teas, lots of filtered lemon water, and liver supporting foods like avocados, beets, carrots, spinach, cruciferous veg, apples, etc. into your diet daily. Be consistent with this!

Here are some signs your liver may need some extra lovin’:

  • You’re feeling sluggish, tired and fatigued constantly

  • Your tongue is white or yellow-coated and/or you have bad breath

  • You are gaining weight – especially around the abdomen

  • You’re experiencing cravings and/or blood sugar issues

  • You’re experiencing headaches.

  • Your digestion is poor (undigested food in stool, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas)

  • You’re feeling nauseas after fatty meals

  • Your skin is blue-ish under your eyes

This green juice recipe is from Medical Medium and it is one of my favourites. It’s a good mixture of sweet and tart all in one. You can also find it on my instagram page.

2 apples (I use green because they are lowest in sugar)

2 cups chopped pineapple

1 inch ginger

1 bunch celery

1 cup parsley

Try to buy everything organic if you can afford to (except the pineapple since it has a hard peel protecting the flesh).

Let me know what you think after you’e tried it! If you don’t own a juicer, you can make it in a blender then strain it.

We work on liver support together as part of the 1:1 Flourish with Fibro Program.

Cheers to living a flourishing life!
